Local Tex-Mex hotspot Wicked Cantina opens this week in St. Pete

The exterior of a restaurant

A Tampa Bay Area favorite is set to open its first location in St. Pete. The Sarasota-based Wicked Cantina is officially opening its St. Pete restaurant at 3650 Tyrone Boulevard North, the third location for the company.

Loved for their margaritas and wide variety of Austin-inspired Tex-Mex cuisine, Wicked Cantina is also one of the few places left that offers free chips and salsa for the table (provided other purchases are made, of course). We recommend saving room though – the rest of the menu looks outstanding, and we’re excited to get in for our first taste.

Celebrated St. Pete artist Derek Donnelly was commissioned to help give the restaurant a local and colorful flair, with his mural adorning the facade of the building and more of his work visible throughout the dining areas. The restaurant and bar will be open daily for lunch and dinner, with happy hour everyday from 12-5 pm and all day Sunday.

In addition to many of our favorite Tex-Mex staples (and plenty with a twist), Wicked Cantina also offers an excellent assortment of burgers and sandwiches, as well as seafood options sprinkled throughout the menu, befitting its Gulf-side location. Combo plates, hefty burritos, tacos, fajitas and enchiladas round out the offerings, along with a lengthy appetizers menu (we’re eyeballing the bacon-wrapped jalapeno shrimp).

This St. Pete location will also provide a full gluten-free and vegan menu. There will also be a kids menu, as well as a dessert menu, which includes a tantalizing creation called a “Tex Mex Cannoli.”

Follow Wicked Cantina St. Pete on facebook for more updates, and see the full menu online.
