What do hipsters, businesspeople and retirees, including our favorite roving tipster Signature Susan, all have in common?
Kahwa Cafe, more commonly known as Kahwa South, has become the ultimate microcosm of the ‘Burg. On any given day you can get close to St. Pete Times‘ star reporter Michael Kruse catching an afternoon boost with his package lunch, Alan Galeano the pint-sized powerhouse owner of PUSH and Ruby’s Elixir and serial networker/renewable energy entrepreneur Frank Wells, among many others.

Of course, the delicious coffee, light fare, cosmic cookies and pastries don’t hurt either. And while we here at the Downtown St. Pete page have become quite fond of the americano and latte, always served with a smile by baristas Sarah Jo and Chris, on a recent 91 degree day we found a delicious and cooling alternative in the Mocha Granita.
Made with their delicious espresso blend, add a little milk and a sugar, it’s a delicious, yet not overly sweet treat that will have the sweats evaporating in no time. Coffee flavored iced drinks not your thing? Try one of their other granitas including lemonade, freshly squeezed of course, or other fruit puree mixes that include mango and blood orange for a super anti-oxidant boost.
