This December, non-stop service between St. Pete-Clearwater Airport (PIE), and Toronto will resume with Swoop Airlines. Flights will officially return beginning December 12. The flights will operate 3x weekly with one way fares starting at around $139. This is good news for PIE, the small airport continues to shatter its passenger records month-to-month. The airport has also expanded its pre- and post-security offerings with the debut of 3 Daughters Brewing and Mazzaro’s Italian Market inside the airport.

Swoop, Canada’s leading ultra-low-cost carrier (ULCC), unveiled plans to greatly expand its winter offerings. Outside of a return to St. Pete-Clearwater Airpot, Swoop is also expanding to Orlando, London, and Cancun. Swoop’s fleet, comprised of ten Boeing 737-800 NG aircraft and three Boeing MAX-8 aircraft will grow to 16 with the addition of three more Boeing MAX-8 in 2022.

Earlier in the fall, PIE received a major honor from VISIT FLORIDA as it took home The Henry award for Creativity in Public Relations during the Flagler Awards Ceremony. PIE was honored for its reunion activation inspired by a friendship from the stands of Super Bowl® LV. Improving the airport’s recognition among locals and incoming travelers, and a chance occurrence at 2021’s biggest sporting event provided the perfect opportunity to create a new kind of cross-country connection.

PIE takes home major VISIT FLORIDA award

Airport Air Service Development and Marketing Director, Jeff Clauss said, “We are honored to receive such a prestigious recognition in the competitive and innovative Florida Tourism industry. We believe our new branding reflects who we are and how our customers feel about us.  I am very proud of our airport team and our partnership with our agency, Starmark.”
