The grocery store business is cut throat. the recent closings of Lucky’s Markets and Earth Fare’s across the country have sent shockwaves through the grocery scene. In spite of that, there’s one Florida concept that continues t serve its community nearly 30 years after opening. I’m talking about Earth Origins, an eco-friendly health food market in West St. Pete.
Earth Origins operates 8 different markets in the Sunshine State — and it’s West St. Pete location is in good company next to Craft Kafe and across the street from Dead Bobs (my favorite burger joint).

Huge selection of grab-and-go meals
It’s not your atypical grocery store. Earth Origins offers kombucha on tap, a full deli with ample to-go options, a grab-and-go menu featuring tasty acai bowls, and tons of salads, wraps, and natural soups.
The store features grocery items that can accommodate any special diet including gluten-free, vegetarian and vegan, keto, paleo, and Mediterranean. Alongside Earth Origins’ organic dairy products you’ll find a wide array of non-dairy alternative milks, yogurts and cheeses made from nuts, flax, coconut, soy and even hemp.
Shoppers will also find an enormous bulk section in the store. The section includes organic herbs and spices, loose teas, nuts, dried fruit, grains, beans, flours, candies, and granolas.

Open in Florida since 1993
Earth Origins St. Pete location can be found at 6651 Central Avenue.
In 2018, the Palm Harbor-based chain was acquired by Omaha, NE-based The Healthy Edge, Inc., a subsidiary of AMCON Distributing Co., a consumer products firm. The stores opened in 1993 and originally operated under different names.
