The Cross-Bay Ferry officially launches on November 1. The high-speed service connecting St. Pete to downtown Tampa has proved popular amongst area visitors and residents. Service will run through April 2020, though some hope to see full year-round service going forward.

On October 18, the barges arrived on the St. Pete waterfront to mark the start of the ferry season. Fares cost $8 for Adults, $5 for Seniors, Military, and College Students, $3 for children ages 5-18, and kids 4 and under ride free.

The vessel can carry up to 149 passengers at a time with indoor and outdoor seating. Regular 2-wheel bicycles can be stored on the ferry. The ferry crew cannot assist with the loading and unloading of bicycles. A maximum of 30 bicycles can be carried.

Service animals are allowed on board. Other pets may be allowed on board the ferry on a case by case basis. You can call 727-273-5932 for more details.

The service recently released the full ferry schedule. There will be no service on Mondays and Tuesdays, unless there’s a Lightning game happening at Amalie Arena.

One of the main questions surrounding the service is parking. Guests can park in the Sundial St. Pete Parking Garage on 2nd Street, south of 2nd Avenue North. Riders who purchase a ticket for the Cross-Bay Ferry and who park in the Sundial Garage will be given a parking pass, upon request of the ferry staff, which can be used upon exiting the Sundial Garage to get free parking for that day.

You can purchase tickets and read all about the Cross-Bay Ferry on the company’s website. Will you ride the ferry when it launches?
