The St. Anthony’s Triathlon, a celebrated three-race event marking its’ 41st year, has been named to lists of the top Olympic-, Sprint-distance and beginner triathlons in the United States by Triathlete magazine. The race officially returns to the ‘Burg this weekend, April 25-28. You can find a full schedule online. Volunteer opportunities are still available throughout the weekend, from checking folks in and merch sales, to finish line medical.

The triathlon draws thousands to St. Pete
The magazine selected St. Anthony’s Olympic- and Sprint-distance races for its 2024 Best Races in the United States east region. Three races each in the east, west, central and mountain regions were chosen for the honor, according to BayCare.
“St. Anthony’s is the perfect way to kick off the race season in sunny St. Petersburg, Florida,” the magazine said. “This race comes with all the trappings of a large event like a race expo, pre-race (racks for bikes), post-race food, athlete tracker, and hundreds of cheering spectators.”
Races available for novices and experts all weekend
In the same regions, the magazine recognized the Meek & Mighty Triathlon, the event held the day before the longer-distance races, as one of the Best Beginner Races in the United States.

“You might be familiar with St. Anthony’s Triathlon … but if you aren’t ready for the full course, try their Meek & Mighty Triathlon the day prior,” the magazine said, which added that a bonus of the event are the clinics held for youth and novice adult participants.
