After a full decade of careful restoration and renovation, a beautiful 100-year-old St. Pete building is ready for its public debut. Savant on Second, located at 634 2nd Avenue South is officially open as the Burg’s newest event space in one of its oldest buildings.
The sprawling indoor and outdoor venue covers 5,500 square feet of event area, with room for as many as 350 guests. The interior has unique features such as 20-foot-high ceilings with skylights hand painted by the internationally acclaimed artist Ya La’ford and original octagon tiles, which have been diligently restored.

Bob Glaser, President and CEO of Smith & Associates, led the restoration of the building personally, working with the City of St. Petersburg to complete the restoration. The restoration was carefully refined so that Tim Clemmons, esteemed architect of Place Architecture, was consulted at every change to ensure that construction respected the history yet appealed to the needs of the modern consumer. Ed Seifried Construction completed the building restoration.
“The overall ambiance at Savant on Second allows an experience not found in other halls in town, making it the most beautiful space to host celebrations that mark the most intimate and heart-warming moments in people’s lives. Within walking distance to the prominent destinations in downtown St. Petersburg, the event space is perfect for milestone celebrations, catering to the most selective clientele who wants to throw a party that creates long-lasting memories,” Glaser said.
As for usage of the space as St. Pete’s party season approaches, Savant on Second has an elegant, alluring appeal for private parties with rustic modern glam and lush greenery. The spacious, open-air venue is perfect for the upcoming party season, providing guests with a chic backdrop for graduation parties, weddings, corporate gatherings, and other private party celebrations. Caterers and event planners can easily re-imagine the interior setting and outdoor terrace to accommodate the needs and preferences of the most discerning client opting for an extravagant event or one with laid-back elegance.
Of note as we leave cool weather behind, the outdoor terrace can accommodate an open-air bar set-up, cocktail tables, a live band, and a dance floor. The indoor and outdoor space can accommodate parties of up to 250 guests for seated dinners and up to 350 guests for standing cocktail parties, and foster an intimate ambiance for smaller parties of under 100 guests. The 100-year-old venue space has been painstakingly restored and provides a unique party space with modernized catering kitchen for back of house support.
