Sauvignon Wine Locker & American Trattoria, the buzzy new wine concept located at 241 Central Avenue, is serving up some of the finest wines and tastiest dishes in St. Petersburg
The 200 Block of Central Avenue in St. Petersburg may be the most spirited section of the entire city. Mandarin Hide, The Oyster Bar, Del Mar, Mastry’s, Five Bucks, the Crafty Squirrel and a host of other bars serve as proof. Now, Sauvignon sits atop the block – quite literally – as the wine locker and American trattoria is located on the second floor of 241 Central Avenue. The restaurant welcomes walk-ups, and online reservations are now available, as well.

Sauvignon brings elevated flair to the 200 Block of Central Avenue
“We are an American midsize restaurant that focuses on fresh seasonal food prepared by our executive chef along with an expertise on wine and beer,” Sauvignon says. “St. Petersburg, Florida is an area many of us have called ‘home’ for years, so having the opportunity to share some of our favorite aspects of life is nothing short of a pleasure.”
Certified sommelier Chris Ciarcia partnered with Jim and KellyAnn Jenkins to open the bar/restaurant on one of the Burg’s busiest blocks. Sauvignon serves a fresh seasonal menu with homemade pastas, grilled meats, salads, cheese and charcuterie, and a major emphasis on desserts and dessert wine pairings.
Join the ‘Burg’s new Wine Club
As part of their commitment to creating unique, engaging and elevated experiences, Sauvignon also has a Wine Locker Club. Membership in the exclusive includes access to personal wine storage (up to 12 bottles held behind lock and key), special events like dinners with wine pairings, and the ability to try and purchase rare and vintage wines.
In addition to regular wine tastings, membership also has perks in the culinary department – Wine Locker Club members are able to make reservations, and Sauvignon will even decant a bottle in advance so that is prepared for enjoyment upon arrival. Full details and a sign-up link can be found on their website.
The Trattoria menu is resplendent with fresh flavors, but the main event for us had to be the Frutti di Mare pasta. This dish redefines savory, and the expert sommeliers at Sauvignon know exactly what wine pairs best.
A new happy hour experience in the Sunshine City
Bringing even more goodness to downtown, Sauvignon has some of the best weekly specials in the ‘Burg. They offer happy hour from 4-6 pm Tuesday-Sunday which allows imbibers to enjoy all by-the-glass wine offerings for 50% off. On Thursdays, all of Sauvignon’s fresh, house-made pastas are half off (excluding the shrimp scampi), and on Sundays all 750 ml bottles listed under $100 are 50% off.
These deals make it even more tempting to try that new wine you’ve been curious about or to splurge on a pasta and vino-fueled evening in St. Pete.
Get out, support local, and enjoy a glass on the balcony overlooking Central Avenue.
