There is, every year, this perfect slice of time at Pinellas County beaches, where the dust has settled from the throngs of spring breakers, but neither the summer temperatures nor summer vacationers have yet arrived. It’s the best time of the year for St. Petians to hit the beach, and one of our favorite beach bars is making it more enticing than ever.

Postcard Inn On The Beach has unveiled a stellar lineup of events, specials and new offerings perfectly placed in the shoulder season when locals can enjoy the beach all day and night (without spending half that time in traffic). From a new beachfront cantina offering Mexican eats, to specialty live music nights, pool passes and new beachside cabanas (complete with bottle service!), the resort is going all out to make PCI the best place for locals to be and be seen this time of year. PCI is located at 6300 Gulf Blvd.

Street tacos steal the show at PCI Cantina

We do love food and drink here at I Love the Burg, so it’s no surprise that perhaps our favorite part of these new additions is the new food concept, PCI Beach Bar & Cantina, dishing up delectable Mexican fare, perfectly paired with days and nights on the beach. While PCI’s beach bar is famed for music and parties along the Gulf, the all-scratch-made eats coming out of the new cantina are worthy of a visit on their own.

The chimichurri wings are a huge hit, and if you’ve got a big group (or just a big appetite), we highly recommend the taco flights. The Mexican street-style tacos are loaded with freshly cut and cooked meats and veggies, and when paired with a margarita and sunshine, it doesn’t get more beachy. It’s hard to pick just one style of taco (though the pork belly is *mighty* hard to say no to), and the flight gets you one of each: chicken tinga, carne asada, fish, pork belly, shrimp.

The Cantina also serves up massive burritos, cheesy quesadillas, piled-high nachos, zesty rice bowls, house-made chips and salsa, and even desserts such as fried churro donuts and sopapillas. There is also a kids menu available for the youngsters. The kitchen is open daily from 11 am – 10 pm.

Live music on the beach every weekend at PCI

One key addition to PCI’s new “For The Locals” lineup is live music every Thursday and Friday during the last few hours of daylight. Singers and DJs alike will take the party through golden hour and into the sunset each evening live from PCI’s famed beach bar, with perfect views of the white sand, blue waters, and deep orange sunsets. This, of course, is in addition to live DJs spinning tunes and getting the dance floor moving every Saturday and Sunday starting at 1 pm.

“Unplugged Thursdays” begins every Thursday at 5 pm, when guests are invited to immerse themselves in an evening of soulful melodies, refreshing drinks, and laid-back vibes at the beach bar. Grab a frozen drink and some tacos, then relax under the stars as talented musicians serenade the crowd with acoustic tunes, creating the perfect backdrop for a memorable night out at St. Pete Beach.

Then, the weekend kicks into high gear when the beach bar transforms into the ultimate weekend kickoff destination with the new “PCI Fridays of Funk & Pop at PCI Beach Bar & Cantina.” Starting at 6 pm, guests can expect to be swept away by the hottest hits in funk and pop, igniting the dance floor and setting the stage for an unforgettable night filled with music, drinks, and good vibes.

And for a huge party, don’t miss Super Claw Sunday at PCI this Sunday, April 28, as Postcard Inn On The Beach will become the only hotel in Florida to feature the “SUPER CLAW” cocktail, which is a “topless” can of White Claw vokda+soda kicked-up with a mini bottle of White Claw premium or flavored vodka. The all day-and-night party starts at noon, with DJ sets running all day long and live streaming from the beach with 93.3 FLZ & Katie Radio.

Stay tuned for more big events on the beach at PCI, including: Sunset Draft Party; Cinco de Mayo Celebration: Milagros Lime Challenge; Memorial Weekend Beach Party; and July 4th Two-Weekend PCI Takeover.

Kick it in the pool or get your own cabana at PCI

Of course, if you really want to bask in the glory of leisurely days by and in the water, then it’s time to take things up a notch. Luckily, PCI announced new cabana service and pool passes that give locals the chance to live like they’re on vacation for a day.

The new “Day Life” offerings give locals to live a day in the life of pampered vacationers. Guests can upgrade their day with exclusive cabanas by the warm Gulf, or take a dive into the largest pool and go for a quick dip while listening to live music. Both are excellent options to celebrate any fun occasion – birthdays, bachelorettes, or family gatherings.

Weekend Warriors can join “Day Life @ PCI,” the place to be and be seen, for top-notch EDM by the pool. Or, upgrade your experience to the VIP Day Life cabana steps off the dance floor, complete with bottle service and the best vibes. To get a bit more sandy, reserve a spot in the Day Life Beach Lounge and bask in the glory of the Gulf.

No matter where you go, margaritas and nachos are only an order away, and you’re always right next to the party. Learn more about the PCI Beach Bar & Cantina here, and make plans to stop by at 6300 Gulf Blvd. The bar is open from 10 am – 11 pm Sunday-Thursday, and 10 am – midnight Friday and Saturday. The kitchen is open daily from 11 am – 10 pm.
