Portillo’s is bringing its delicious Chicago-style hotdogs, and Italian beef sandwiches to St. Pete. The acclaimed restaurant is now officially open in the Tyrone neighborhood at 2302 Tyrone Blvd N.

The massive hotdog concept began with just one location nearly 60 years ago. In 1963, Dick Portillo invested $1,100 into a small trailer to open the first Portillo’s hot dog stand in Villa Park, IL, which he called “The Dog House.” Years later, Portillo’s has become a brand synonymous with Chicago. Today, Portillo’s operates more than 60 locations across the country.

The restaurant’s famous Italian beef is slow-roasted for four hours, thinly sliced, and served on freshly baked French bread. Then, it’s dipped in hot gravy made with Portillo’s homemade blend of seasonings that we’ve been perfecting for 50 years.

Diners can also savor crinkle cut fries, char broiled burgers, huge chopped salads, and super thick slices of chocolate cake. This restaurant also whips up amazing, old school milkshakes. This location will feature classic ’50s-style décor on the inside and a seasonal outdoor patio. There’s also a double lane drive-thru for customers.
