St. Pete is going to the dogs, and we’re here for it. Paws ‘n’ Rec is a wildly popular dog daycare, boarding, and grooming facility now open at 4300 28th St. North, offering convenient access from all areas of the city.

Paws ‘n’ Rec has been a smash hit since opening its three locations in Hillsborough County, and after hearing from so many of their St. Pete clients, the company decided to open a massive new facility on this side of the bridge. The 8,500 square-foot space is home to a first-class and comfortable facility allowing Paws ‘n’ Rec to provide an incredible variety of services.

Paws ‘n’ Rec is the region’s premier dog care service

Paws ‘n’ Rec dubs itself the “ultimutt” fun, safe, and convenient dog daycare, grooming, spa, and overnight solution for pups and their owners. Part of what makes the company stand out – in addition to its fantastic membership perks – is that it has one of the best dog-to-staff ratios of anyone in the entire Tampa Bay region.

This St. Pete location will also offer the best dropoff and pickup hours anywhere in Pinellas County, open daily from 6:30 am – 10 pm. So even if you just need a night out to dinner after work, your furry friend will be ready for you after you eat.

Paws ‘n’ Rec has also installed medical-grade HVAC systems that produce 100% fresh, outside, filtered air that is pumped into the facility at all times. With more than decade in the business, the team behind the new spot is at the top of the game and has earned the trust of repeat clients and members over the last 10 years.

In addition to the dog spa and grooming services, Paws ‘n’ Rec offers two membership services – “daycare adventure” and “overnight hoteling,” providing options for daily care while pup parents are at work, or regular overnight stays when you’re out of town. And those memberships include 24-hour care, as well as perks such as discounts at area pet-related stores and businesses.

Paws ‘n’ Rec was founded by two best friends, Taylor Wallace and Michael Mayleben in 2020. Mike has over a decade of experience running dog daycares while Taylor previously worked with Tech Startups both in Tampa and internationally. After opening three locations in Tampa, as a St. Pete resident, Taylor was tired of driving across the bridge to bring his beloved Dalmatian Bessie to daycare. Thus, their St. Pete location is a labor of love to give his own dog and all his favorite pups in DTSP the best daycare experience in Pinellas County.

Early customers at Paws ‘n’ Rec – St. Pete will be “founding members”, where they will receive $50 off monthly daycare memberships for the first six months of adventuring, one free bath a month, and an awesome swag full of goodies for both you and your fur baby.
