After more than a year of anticipation, Original Flavor 1889 is now open at 409 Central Avenue. The Italian wine bar and self-described “temple of pizza” showcases a contemporary take on Neapolitan pizza, pasta, traditional Italian light bites, and an extensive wine selection.

Original Flavor’s pizzaiolo is from Naples, Italy, with more than 20 years of experience as a chef, and employs a careful selection of highly-fermented ancient grains and a contemporary, slow-maturing yeast to create a pizza dough that is light, fluffy, and highly-digestible. All of the pizzas are cooked in-house using Original Flavor’s fired brick oven.

Original Flavor 1889 is currently listed as being open from 4-10 pm every day, and may soon open daily at 11 am for lunch and dinner. The owners have transformed the space into a bright and airy restaurant with two long bars as well as dining room seating.

Find Italian wine and imported delicacies in a relaxing atmosphere

In addition to a variety of pizzas and starters, Original Flavor also offers calzones, salads, charcuterie boards, and house-made pastas. Highlights of the pasta menu include gnocchi, stuffed ravioli, lasagna, Bolognese, and a delightful sounding strozzapreti zucchine e gamberi with shrimp, zucchini chips, cherry tomato, and zucchini wine sauce.

Whenever possible, Original Flavor uses imported Italian ingredients to craft dishes reminiscent of Bel Paese. These ingredients are showcased particularly well in their gourmet Neapolitan pizzas.

Original Flavor’s wine list showcases a deep offering of Italian wines from regions throughout the country, most available by the bottle, with at least 10 also available by the glass. Additionally, the restaurant offers a handful of beers, including Peroni draft. You can also grab dessert and espresso.
