A Central Avenue stalwart shared some sad news over the weekend, as the owners of Old Key West Bar & Grill announced that the popular bar is now up for sale. Old Key West will remain open until a sale is finalized, at which point the owners promise a “huge party” for their final weekend.
The vintage-Florida bar, located at 2451 Central Avenue, has been popular for its Key West-inspired cocktails and food, bringing laidback vibes and friendly service to the neighborhood. The bar also served as one of Grand Central’s for LGBTQ events and support. If you’re planning a goodbye visit, the SunRunner has convenient stops on 22nd Street at 1st Avenue North and South.

Owners say they will take a few months to relax after Old Key West closes, before moving on to their next project. We’ll keep an eye on the sale and wait to see what new ownership will do with the business, and if any downtime between operations arises.
Old Key West is maintaining normal operations while the business is on the market, open for lunch and dinner Tuesday-Sunday beginning at 11 am. Ownership expressed a desire to enjoy the time with customers as much as possible.
From Old Key West’s announcement: “It’s bittersweet but time for new adventures! We have been around for a long time and love all of you! We appreciate all the love and support from our customers that most of you turned into friends and family!! With that being said please respect our staff and keep questions to a minimum. This has been our home for a long time. We are excited to live life fully for a few months and then get back at it. So stay in the loop for what we will have coming up in the future!”
