Now is the last chance to get in on one of the Burg’s most impactful organizations. Applications for Leadership St. Pete’s class of 2024 are open through 5 pm on Tuesday, September 26, which can be found here.
The program, which runs from December 2023 – June 2024, is an immersive professional and civic leadership experience that connects local leaders with each other, develops the qualities necessary to move their organizations and communities forward, and provides experiences in St. Pete and beyond that few ever have the chance to take part in.

Leadership St. Pete, now in its 53rd class, is one of the oldest leadership programs in America and exists as a division of the St. Petersburg Area Chamber of Commerce and its 501(c)(3) Foundation. The six-month program is a dynamic, intensive and interactive experience designed to promote and enhance community leadership through an in-depth introduction to social, economic, business and political issues in the St. Petersburg area.
Made possible through the support of the Chamber’s community partners, the mission of LSP is to identify, recruit and develop leaders who represent the diversity of the city and who will assume future leadership roles in the community.
After hundreds apply each year, the top 50 receive interviews, and around 35-40 are selected to participate as part of the newest class. While the curriculum runs deep, the highlight is the annual class project.
Each year, the Leadership St. Pete class gives back to our community through this a civic engagement, community service project that is completed during the term of the program — a cornerstone of the LSP experience. A typical Class Project requires the class to create awareness, fundraise, and work hands-on at the nonprofit’s physical site to rehab a facility in need of some tender loving care.
“As the 2024 Chair of Leadership St. Pete, I invite you to embark on a transformative journey that transcends boundaries. Join our ranks and discover the heartbeat of our city, weave enduring connections, and sow the seeds of positive change in our community. Whether you’re taking your first steps as a fresh leader or bringing a tapestry of experience, this is your opportunity to learn, bond, and give back.” said 2024 Class Chair, Leslie Hafer of St. Petersburg College.
