Green Book of Tampa Bay art exhibition coming to Studio@620

Green Book of Tampa Bay art exhibition coming to Studio@620

An art exhibition featuring works from Green Book of Tampa Bay artists will debut during the St. Pete Arts Alliance’s Second Saturday Art Walk on Saturday August 14. The exhibit will be on display through September 11, when there will be gallery hours and a closing reception.

The Green Book of Tampa Bay is a Black-owned business directory that serves Pinellas and Hillsborough county. We help people who are concerned with inequity in their community be intentional with how they spend their dollars. Along with promoting Black-owned businesses, the directory promotes Black artists as well as historical and cultural sites.

Green Book of Tampa Bay supports local black-owned businesses

Hillary Van Dyke and Joshua Bean started the directory as a nod to the Jim Crow-era guidebook that safely pointed Black travelers to places to eat, visit and stay. The pair launched the directory back in 2018, and have championed black-owned businesses throughout the region ever since.

The business directory has introduced us to some of our favorite food spots in the area.

A few businesses to celebrate include Al’s Finger Licking Good BBQ, Bon Zanmi Haitian Cuisine, Grandma Cakes by Moe, Island Flavors and Tings, PattyeCakes, and Toriano’s Pizza. Honestly that’s not even scratching the surface.

Support the work of the Studio@620 for Bob Devin Jones’ birthday

It will be free to explore the exhibit, but donations are appreciated. You can also make direct donations to Green Book of Tampa Bay online, and you can browse merch by the directory here.

The Studio@620 is located at 620 1st Avenue South. The organization is also celebrating Bob Devin Jones for the entire month of August. If you love the Studio@620’s programming, consider making a donation and provide a very happy birthday month for Jones.
