The run is part of the St. Pete Parks and Recreation Department’s Healthy St. Pete initiative, which is designed to foster an active, engaged, and fit community. Healthy St. Pete’s mission is to build a culture of health in our city by making healthy choices easy through a collaborative community effort. They work to improve health outcomes, reduce health inequities, and strive to implement policies and programs that give all citizens the opportunity to reach and enjoy optimal health.
The initiative has created an extensive programming network to help residents get and stay healthy. It hosts hundreds of wellness classes and engages thousands of children in its program. The Healthy St. Pete Program received the 2022 Innovation Award from the Florida Park & Recreation Association for creating and implementing the Healthier Together Initiative.
