The Firestone Grand Prix puts a major spotlight on St. Pete

The countdown is on! The Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg roars into downtown St. Pete from February 28 to March 2, kicking off the 2025 NTT INDYCAR SERIES season. This high-speed spectacle draws thousands of fans eager to witness open-wheel racing and enjoy a vibrant atmosphere. The race track spans the area around the Duke Energy Center for the Arts, including The Mahaffey Theater at 400 1st St S and Albert Whitted Park at 480 Bayshore Dr SE.

The Firestone Grand Prix is packed with non-stop action. Expect thrilling open-wheel racing from the INDYCAR SERIES, alongside emerging stars in INDY NXT by Firestone, USF Pro 2000, and USF2000 as they zoom through the streets of St. Pete. The weekend also includes sports car action from the Whelen Mazda MX-5 Cup presented by Michelin, with plenty of food vendors offering vegan, vegetarian, and gluten-free options to keep you fueled.

A racing spectacle in downtown St. Pete

Kick off your Firestone Grand Prix experience on February 27 with two fun events:

  • INDYCAR Party in the Park (4 p.m. – 7 p.m. at N Straub Park, 400 Bayshore Dr NE)
  • 5K Run on the Firestone Track (5 p.m. at 400 Bayshore Dr. NE, registration $40 until Feb. 26, then $50 on race day)

From February 28 to March 2, the excitement heats up as cars fly around the track, the crowd buzzes with energy, and entertainment fills every corner.

Ride to the Grand Prix on the SunRunner

Getting to the race is a breeze! Hop on the SunRunner, PSTA’s Bus Rapid Transit service, which takes you directly to Gate 1 or Gate 5, with stops near popular spots in the area. Discounted fares are available for Grand Prix attendees through the Flamingo Fares App. For just $3, you can bring your whole crew (up to four people) with a Group Pass—just use the promo code CREW at checkout (expires 3/3).

Parking won’t be an issue, though it’s cashless only. You can park at Tropicana Field (1 Tropicana Dr) in lots 6 and 7 for $30 per day, with free shuttles available from Tropicana Field to the racecourse. The shuttle stops at 10th Street S and drops off at 2nd Street S and 5th Avenue S. City garages are also available at $25 per day.
