Tampa Bay’s biggest Kentucky Derby party brings a charity gala to the pier

Get your bow ties and big hats ready – the St. Pete Pier is going full derby this weekend. The 13 Ugly Men’s “Derby at The Pier” will be held this Saturday, May 6th, from 3-9 pm at the St. Pete Pier in Spa Beach Park.

Guests are encouraged to don their best derby hats, sundresses, seersucker suits, and bow ties for an afternoon and evening full of high-end bourbon, specialty craft cocktails, cigars, and of course, the traditional mint julep – all while enjoying a serene, picture-perfect waterfront venue with views of the DTSP city skyline and the beautiful bay.

There will be derby-themed food and craft cocktails, naturally, as well as live music, derby-themed games, and of course, big screen TV walls to watch the race. There will also be a custom and hand-rolled cigar bar on site as well as live music from No Filter Band & DJ Don Pablo. Additionally, there will be multiple food trucks including Taco Bus Treasure Island, Lobster Dogs Food Truck Tampa, SLAMMER SHOP & Big Red BBQ FL.

General Admission tickets are $30 + fees in advance and Jockey Club tickets are sold out.

The 13 Ugly Men will also be hosting a raffle drawing, with the grand prize being a four-day/three-night trip for two the 2024 Kentucky Derby, complete with hotel stay, derby tickets, a horse farm tour, and a derby evening reception. The event is one several extravagant charity fundraisers held every year by local nonprofit The 13 Ugly Men, a group that encourages people to ‘Party With A Purpose.’ This May’s event will benefit Phoenix House Florida, which provides residential services and treatment for substance use disorders. Derby at the Pier is made possible by title sponsors Castellano Cosmetic Surgery Center, and  Jerry Ulm Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, Ram.

Phoenix House Florida is a nonprofit organization that has been serving the Tampa Bay Area for 30 years. They deliver the highest quality of care with professionalism and respect, and pride theirselves on providing outstanding and accessible treatment to adults and teens. Phoenix House Florida offers Adult Residential Services in separate units for men and women. In addition, office-based detoxification for prescription and opiate drug use is available.
