Colony Grill’s Arugula Salad Pizza may be the meal of the summer

Pizzas on a table

We may have found this summer’s best meal. Colony Grill, the beloved crispy Bar Pie pizza restaurant and bar, just announced the return of its Arugula Salad Pizza as part of its summer menu. So the next time someone asks how your summer diet is going, you can confidently and accurately say, “I had salad for lunch.”

To be clear, we’ve been fans of the original salad pizza at Colony Grill for years now. It’s a genuine beauty and it tastes far better than it has any right to. And thanks to the thin crust and fresh greens, it actually sits plenty light. You’ll leave more than satisfied, but without the need for a nap.

This iteration, however, takes the experience to a new level. The crust itself is baked with olive oil and sea salt, giving the crispy base a simple start. Separately, the arugula is tossed with shaved parmesan, fresh-cracked black pepper, and a light lemon vinaigrette. As soon as the pizza is ready out of the oven, the cool arugula salad is spread across the hot crust and brought straight to the table.

It’s picturesque, it’s refreshing, and it’s impossible not to have more than one piece. If Tampa has a 2026 meal of the summer, this is it.

Limited time summer pizzas

That’s not all Colony Grill rolled out as part of the new menu, however. The acclaimed pizza restaurant also debuted a Summer White Pizza, and this one sounds just as perfect for a beach-body-friendly lunch or dinner. Colony Grill’s signature crust serves as the base for a roasted garlic spread, sliced garden tomatoes, fresh mozzarella, and basil. You can’t find a vegetable board better than that.

Of course, you don’t have to stay light at Colony Grill. The beauty of the menu is the ability to build your own pizza however you like. My personal go-to is a pie with hot oil, pepperoni, and the spicy stingers. If you like heat, this is the way. For a little less kick, the Myrtle Ave Margherita is a stellar pick, and if you’re feeling brunchy, the breakfast pizza with bacon (or sausage), egg and cheese is tough to beat.

Drinks on a counter

Live sports and new summer cocktails

While the pizza is what draws us in, it can often be the bar and its many TVs that keep us around. Local beer on tap, craft cocktails on deck, and any game you can think of on TV. For NBA Finals and the FIFA World Cup this summer, Colony Grill is going to be making regular appearances on our schedule.

They also released a new cocktail lineup for the summer rollout, all of which pair nicely with the new pizza offerings and will help cool you down during the warm summer months.

Highlights include the Red Sangria, Patio Paloma, Berry Basil Rickey (pairs well with the Myrtle Ave. Margherita Pizza), and the Classic Mojito. They also have a pair of new mocktails on the menu: a Strawberry Lemonade and the Creamsicle Cooler.

Colony Grill is located in Downtown St. Pete at 670 Central Avenue. The restaurant is open Sunday-Thursday from 11:30 am – 11 pm, and Friday and Saturday from 11:30 am – 12:30 am.
