A new sweet shop called “The Cereal Bar: Adventures in Ice Cream” is primed to open on the 600 Block of Central Avenue right next to The Floridian Social Club. The Cereal Bar is a bit of a rebrand for The Urban Creamery. Our local scoop shop, which offered tasty waffles and even a vegan menu courtesy of Nan’s Plant-based Ice Cream, temporarily closed earlier in August. A post on Google acknowledges the temporary closure. The wait is almost over as The Cereal Bar St. Pete will open November 9 at 689 Central Avenue.
We imagine The Cereal Bar will be just as it sounds, an exploratory venue where you can indulge in your favorite crunchy snacks. Fingers are crossed we see some Apple Jacks and Apple Cinnamon Cheerios on the menu. It seem the 689 Central Avenue location will continue to offer up that same tasty array of ice creams, as well.

It’s not the only refreshed dessert hub coming soon to that block. A Canadian fusion dessert bar is now open in the former Lure Ono location (685 Central Avenue). The original location is in Montreal, and the Canadian dessert fusion concept will be bringing some seriously unique (at least to St. Pete, anyway) creations to the Sunshine City. The sweets parlor and churreria is known for customizable milkshakes filled with various toppings, frozen fruit slushes, and of course, fresh churros with dipping sauces. Chiki Churros also offers a variety of coffee-based beverages.
