A new way to explore our little slice of paradise is on the way. The Cross-Bay Ferry has resumed its fall and winter schedule, and in honor of World Car-Free Day, they’ve announced a “Car-Free Baycation” event to help locals experience the other side of Tampa Bay, .

Consider it the perfect staycation: a chance to get out and see the best of the other side of the bay (all while skipping the bridge). By taking the ferry from St. Pete, the event in Tampa will bring those from the opposite side to their neighboring city for a day of car-free exploration and fun.

On Saturday, December 16, Car-Free Baycation takes over downtown Tampa for a jam-packed day of excursions. Travelers will explore the dazzling Winter Village in Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park and join their jolly bike tour that will guide you through the twinkling holiday lights. Departure times for those tours are 6 pm, 7 pm, and 8 pm.

$20 tickets include round-trip Cross-Bay Ferry transportation, tickets to the holiday bike light bike tours, a $10 gift card to Winter Village, free ice skating tickets, bike lights, and holiday apparel. And of course, in between all the action, riders will have the chance to explore Downtown Tampa, taking in the many sights, sounds and tastes of Water Street, Sparkman Wharf and the winding River Walk.

With your ticket, you’ll hop aboard the Cross-Bar Ferry at any of the designated departure times throughout the day, either catching the holiday lights tour in the beginning, middle, or end of your time in Tampa. The ride back to St. Pete on the ferry is included in the cost of the ticket.
