‘Burg Night Out @ the Movies: Young Adult

‘Burg Night Out @ the Movies: Young Adult

Steve Persal, at the paper formerly known as the St. Petersburg Times, called this week’s ‘Burg Night Out the "most unsettling nice surprise of 2011." Suitable for adults of all ages–but certainly not for children–Young Adult is a black comedy about a sociopathic teenager in an gorgeous, late-30-something body.

Middling out at 72% at Metacritique, and a respectable 79% at Rotten Tomatoes, Young Adult is one movie you either adore or detest–often true of most black comedies.

"Charlize Theron plays Mavis Gary, a writer of teen literature who returns to her small hometown to relive her glory days and attempt to reclaim her happily married high school sweetheart (‘Burger Patrick Wilson). When returning home proves more difficult than she thought, Mavis forms an unusual bond with a former classmate (Patton Oswalt) who hasn’t quite gotten over high school, either."
