A new vintage clothing store, Ingrid’s Vintage and Thrift Shop, opened June 1 at 10387 Gandy Blvd N #113 St. As vintage clothing has risen in vogue, unfortunately so have the prices. What uniquely characterizes Ingrid’s is a commitment to quality vintage at reasonable prices.
Ingrid Bridges opened Ingrid’s Vintage and Thrift Shop at the suggestion of her son, who recommended a vintage clothing store that isn’t crazy over-priced. “[vintage clothes cost] like $60 a shirt, at some places,” says Ingrid.

Ingrid and her phenomenal staff curate the collections and clothing racks so they don’t look like a donation dump. Each piece is handpicked, and displayed in gorgeous armoires, dresser drawers, and settees, among period-specific magazines and playbills. Anything not displayed there is sorted in the neighboring thrift store, which is well worth a visit, too.
In fact, Ingrid now occupies three storefronts in the same plaza: the vintage store, a thrift store, and a mid-century modern furniture store. Ingrid can deck your whole life and dwelling with vintage treasures.
Gotta love that “grandma-chic”
Currently, Ingrid’s boasts an eclectic stock of Manhattan boutique, 50’s, 90’s, and Y2K apparel, and those who want to be totally swaddled in those eras may delve into the bar—the record bar, that is. You can listen right in the store.
People ages 15 – 50 frequent the store, says Ingrid. The younger ones love the fashion, she says, love the “grandma-chic”: old glassware, little vases, teacups, all those things they grew up admiring at their grandma’s home. And for the older customers, says Ingrid, “the older ones—it’s reminding them of something.”
Reminding them of what? I wonder. Perhaps Ingrid’s Vintage and Thrift store reminds us that the past is buried in the future, as Freud believed, and comes back to you in a pair of polished shoes, a broach, long scarves, or a handsome fur hat. Were these not mine once? Those, are they the same as my mother’s? They’ve come back, more real than ever, and fashionable again.
