Beyond the bubble of downtown, way up on Central Avenue is a brand new restaurant catering to those with gluten intolerance and those who have a wicked sweet-tooth.

The Craft Kafe, located at 6653 Central Avenue, is a small batch creamery, coffee house and gourmet restaurant all wrapped up into one. Everything you see pictured on their website and on display at their counter is fresh and made to order, from the coffee to the pizza.

Craft Kafe serves up Kyoto-style cold brewed coffee. This a process created and popularized in Japan. For chemistry nerds, or those missing the "cooking" montages from Breaking Bad, we highly recommend you watch the Kyoto glass contraption at work.

First, the upper glass chamber is filled with ice, which melts and slowly seeps into the coffee grounds, then filters into the bottom chambers. They score high on the chill scale with their Artesian Ice-Pops. On top of that, they offer fresh squeezed juices and of course gluten-free everything!

For those suffering from celiac, Crohn's, ulcerative colitis and other allergies/restrictions, this restaurant fills a culinary void in the Burg.

The Craft Kafe is now open to the public Monday-Thursday, 6am-8pm, Friday 6am-9pm, Saturday 7am-10pm and Sunday 7am-8pm. Craft Kafe located in the West Central Shopping Center, 6653 Central Avenue.

POW Right in the Taste Buds

St. Pete residents have been anxiously awaiting the opening of POW, a restaurant for foodies, superheroes and foodie superheroes, the new pizza place/gastropub in St. Pete. The walls are lined with bright pink, yellow and blue renderings of pop icons. Batman and Dali make their respective presences felt in the restaurant that is the expert blend of retro and post-modern.

The taste is in the name. The pizza and cocktails at POW deliver haymakers to your taste buds. The Thai chicken, Hawaiian BBQ and Greek lamb pizzas are divine slices of heaven we never knew we needed in our lives.
