A new yoga studio in the Warehouse Arts District is the first of its kind in St. Pete. Beach Town Yoga has its official grand opening this Saturday at 131 22nd Street South, a fully donation-based studio that supports the teachers and makes yoga accessible to all.

Beach Town soft opened a few weeks in its facility across the street from 3 Daughters Brewing, and even in a short time it has quickly grown a following among local yogis. With more than half a dozen teachers as part of the team, they offer classes for everyone, from beginner yoga to an all-levels flow and a power flow, often with different themes. Beer yoga enthusiasts will already be familiar with Crystal Kage’s rock and roll-fueled yoga classes.

Speaking of, as part of the grand opening festivities this Saturday, July 8, Beach Town Yoga is hosting a completely free beer yoga class at 10 am, with an all-levels flow led by the owners, followed by a free beer for all participants at 3 Daughters after the class. Additionally, Beach Town will be raffling more than a dozen gifts from local businesses (nearly $1,000 in total value) as part of the festivities. See the full list below.

The idea behind Beach Town Yoga is straightforward and community focused, as co-founder Claire Villalobos describes it. The donation-based approach – which gives 50% of all donations to the teachers – accomplishes two key tasks: it makes trying new yoga classes easy and approachable, and it takes care of the teachers who are building community through yoga.

“We believe teachers are the heartbeat of our yoga community and therefore, should be taken care of,” Villalobos said. “Yoga changes lives and we believe yoga teachers are true healers uplifting our planet. We truly are a community driven yoga studio. Our teacher pay as well as our donation based model for students is what sets us apart.”

For yogis new to Beach Town, there are two options. They can register for any of the classes listed online, donate whatever amount they like, and try out the different teachers and classes to learn what fits them best. Those who decide they will be taking classes regularly can sign up for $88 monthly memberships that allow unlimited classes and cover the donations for every class. For a limited time, I Love the Burg readers can get their membership for only $77/mo with this link and also use the code BURGLOVE to take an extra $33 off their first month!
