This event is perfect for families, casual theatergoers and stage enthusiasts alike. This spring tradition has been a part of the St. Pete community for almost 30 years and shows no signs of stopping. The Wiz is an adaptation of the L. Frank Baum classic that uses the filter the fantasy of Oz to capture the essence of the African American experience. Escape into a world pregnant with the cacophonous rhythm of gospel choirs and original music written by the iconic Quincy Jones.

On Friday, April 11 American Stage will host a special Gala Under The Stars. Those in attendance will enjoy a silent auction, gourmet dinner by Parkshore Grill Catering, open bar, live auction and the opening night performance of The Wiz. Ignore the crow anthem, gather your confidence, your brains and your heart and enjoy this marvelous American Stage production in the park.
The play will run from April 9 to May 4. Previews will take place on April 9 and 10 with admission accepted on a pay-what-you-can basis. The Wiz will be performed Wednesday through Sunday at 8pm. Tickets range from $14 to $32 and children 6 and under are free on the lawn. Demens Landing Park is located on the corner of 1st Ave S and Bayshore Blvd SE.
