One of Florida’s most-loved comedians is getting ready to film his first-ever comedy special this weekend, and St. Pete is playing host to the nights of hilarity. AJ Wilkerson, who has coined himself Captain Autism, is filming three shows at Coastal Creative on June 30 and July 1, and tickets are available now.

His personality has helped him rack up more than one million followers on social media, while his young stand-up career has taken off at an incredible pace. Diagnosed with ASD, AJ’s comedy reflects both his boisterous personality as well as the uniquely individual way his brain works, even (especially) when it works against him.

AJ’s special will be filmed over the course of three nights at Coastal Creative, with shows on Friday, June 30 at 9:15 pm and Saturday, July 1st at 7 and 9:30 pm. Tickets, available here, start at $25.

AJ’s shows take crowds on a hilarious roller coaster centering on his story of living with neurodivergence. While his comedy appeals to audiences of all kinds, he speaks specifically to a community that is underserved in comedy: those with autism, ADHD, and other neurodivergent disabilities.

To be so new to the stage – AJ has only been in comedy for five years – his resume is already more impressive than many who have been doing it for decades. After winning a comedy competition to become the opening act for Jason Mewes, AJ began touring the country. And since then, he’s developed a cult following that travels to see him all over.

Recently, AJ even opened for juggernaut comedian Bert Kreischer on his Berty Boy comedy tour, during which he received multiple standing ovations. With his nervous charm, endearing smile, and appendix-bursting material (true story, that actually happened), AJ has become one of the most relevant young comedians in America.

AJ recently made his Silver Screen debut with a cameo appearance in Kevin Smith’s Clerks III, and also made his standup television debut on Circle Network’s Stand Up Nashville! Live from Zanies in 2022. He has also won a Roast Battle at The World Famous Comedy Store, was named a finalist in the World Series of Comedy and US Comedy Contest, and named the winner of the Portland Comedy Festival.

Tickets to see AJ’s special at Coastal Creative in St. Petersburg are available now. Coastal Creative is located at 2201 1st Avenue South in the Grand Central District.
