One of St. Pete’s best spots for healthy eats is back in downtown. Karma Juice Bar and Eatery is officially open on the first floor of the Times Building at 490 1st Avenue South, the restaurant announced.

The airy downtown space, formerly home to The Blend Coffee, offers bar and dining room seating indoors, while the courtyard outside the building offers a spot for al fresco dining under the shade of trees. The family-owned restaurant and juice bar aims to provide “mindful, health-conscious eating” that they call good mood food.

The all-day menu at Karma includes bowls, smoothies, salads, and sandwiches. They also have a full drink list of fresh-pressed juices, coffee, tea, and “wellness lattes.” In the mornings, diners can also enjoy a breakfast menu of health-conscious sandwiches, bagels and wraps. Karma hasn’t yet announced hours for the new location, though their 4th Street eatery is open Monday-Friday from 8 am – 7 pm, and Saturday from 8 am – 5 pm.

The eatery also creates a variety of small bites like hummus plates and loaded toast (the ricotta and apple toast drizzled with honey is a favorite of I Love The Burg), and there is a menu of kids sandwiches, as well. Plus, you can get there for free, thanks to the SunRunner stop practically on Karma’s doorstep.

Karma’s bowls are blended with almond milk and topped with house-made, gluten-free granola and honey. With bases like acai and dragon fruit, bowls are filled with a variety fruits, nuts and other organic ingredients. The extensive smoothie list includes half a dozen almond milk-based options, and another half dozen green smoothies made with fruits, veggies and coconut water.

Of course, among the many things Karma does well, their salads are stars in their own right, bringing flavorful and feel-good crunch to any lunch. Highlights include the roasted veggie and quinoa, the tequila lime chicken, and the gigantic KSS Salad featuring mixed greens, brussel sprouts, butternut squash, roasted peppers, quinoa, beets, cucumbers, carrots, tomatoes, feta, avocado, cranberries, hemp hearts, walnuts, and a house vinaigrette.

Opened by the mother-daughter duo of Josie Barber and April Lupkey, Karma originally began as a juice bar and acai shop before expanding into a full blown restaurant. The pair has demonstrated a dedication to fresh ingredients and meals prepared to-order, while sourcing responsibly and providing a warm and inviting space inside the restaurant.

Karma also has a third location in Clearwater at 2095 Drew Street. Follow Karma on instagram for updates on hours and offers at the new downtown location.
