Gulfport’s newest restaurant has finally begun welcoming guests after months of anticipation. Tommy’s Hideaway Wood Fired Pizza and Pub has soft opened at 3121 Beach Blvd South, a prime location on Gulfport’s main strip with a bright dining room and airy outdoor beer garden.
Opened by a local couple with more than three decades of restaurant experience, Tommy’s Hideaway will specialize in Neapolitan style wood fired pizzas – however, we still have to wait another week or two to try that part out. Owners are waiting on their final permits to fire up the massive brick oven and start baking fresh pizzas, but in the meantime, the city has allowed them to roll out the rest of the menu and serve up beer and wine, as well.

Owner and namesake Tom Lussiano said that while he of course would have liked to have opened with the pizza oven fired up, he actually sees it as a bit of a blessing – now customers will have an excuse to try his exquisite subs, burgers and starters instead of jumping straight for the hot pies. He’s particularly proud of his handheld creations, from the grilled Italian sub and Nana’s meatball and mozzarella sub, to cheese steak subs, shrimp scampi, fried mozzarella and an incredible variety of wings.
Of course, once the oven gets the green light, guests will be seeing red as the wood fires up and Tommy’s Hideaway starts dishing out the pizzas they’ve worked for years on. The pub will have a wide range of pizza options, from classic margherita or pepperoni, to a meatball ricotta pie and even a white clam pizza. The restaurant promises to have a rotating selection using all kinds of ingredients, from spicy jalapenos to tangy goat cheese.
Proud owners Tom Lussiano and Larisa Curbelo bring a deep well of expertise to Tommy’s Hideaway, with 30 years of experience in major restaurant brands such as Olive Garden, Outback Steakhouse, and Red Lobster. They have developed a deep understanding of the industry, and with Tommy’s Hideaway, they’ve decided to follow their passion and take a leap of faith by using their own funds to launch their own restaurant, without the backing of a major corporation.
Tommy’s Hideaway is open seven days a week from 11:30 am – 9 pm at 3121 Beach Blvd South in Gulfport. You can see their full menu here. Stay tuned to I Love the Burg for updates on when the pizza oven will officially fire up.
