Our favorite local roasters have knocked it out of the park with their latest new blend. Kahwa Coffee’s Signature Series Big Papi blend was crafted in collaboration with former MLB star and World Champion David ‘Big Papi’ Ortiz.

Ortiz is the newest member of the MLB Hall of Fame, having been elected this January in his first year on the ballot. And while he did play for the Boston Red Sox for most of his famed career, the Florida resident chose local favorite Kahwa Coffee to help him create a coffee blend that pays homage to his homeland of the Dominican Republic. The Big Papi blend is a limited release available while supplies last in stores and online. It is currently the featured roast in each Kahwa location.

The roast itself is described as “a rich, full-bodied coffee blend that’s earthy, with sweet notes of chocolate and berries taking inspiration from David Ortiz’s homeland, the Dominican Republic.”

Big Papi blend supports the David Ortiz Children’s Fund

To make that morning jolt even sweeter, the Big Papi blend is a “Kahwa Gives Back” roast. This means that a portion of all sales will go to the David Ortiz Children’s Fund, an incredible organization that provides essential support for children in the Dominican Republic and in New England who cannot afford the critical cardiac services they need.
