The Saturday Morning Market becomes a local drive-thru for 18th season

Outside the start of a drive-thru farmers market

The highlight of any weekend in St. Petersburg is the Saturday Morning Market, one of the largest and longest running outdoor farmers markets in the southeast. Amid the COVID-19 pandemic, market organizers have reimagined the market experience and turned it into a drive-thru.

Now more than ever, it is imperative to support a local institution like this so that it can continue long after the pandemic has ended. The farmers market first launched in 2002, and over the course of 18 years has helped launch some of our favorite food vendors, and artists.

Purchasing from the vendors at the Saturday Morning Market is making a statement that you support local — and that you want to see the St. Pete economy thrive.

Supporting local when it counts

The concept allows customers to pay in advance during the week, and pick up their fresh produce and snacks on Saturday.

Note: Orders must be place by Wednesday at 11pm for Saturday pickup, which is available from 9am-12pm.

We applaud all of the business owners who continue to act vigilantly in the best interest of their customers, their employees and the Sunshine City. Just because the market is closed, doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy local organic produce while supporting the farms that make this such a vibrant place to live.

The drive-thru process allows for a seamless, and near contactless pickup process. No need to hop out of your vehicle either. A Saturday Morning Market employee will place your order in your car for you.

Partnering with four major farms

Participating farms include Trail Bail, Circle 6, Life Farm, and Greens and Things.

You can browse a full selection of available produce and participating vendors on the St. Pete Online Farmers website.

You can enjoy tasty brews from Tidal Boar Ginger Beer and Mother Kombucha, nosh on chocolate croissants, fresh waffles from Sylvia’s, gluten-free pineapple cake from Spice Routes, cashew cream-stuffed dates from All GF Vegan, Farmer’s Rye from Fresh Baked German Bread, and mini cakes from GateauOChocolat.

Works with SNAP to help residents in need

Saturday Morning Market also accepts Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), and has a $1 for $1 matching program made possible by Feeding Florida. SNAP can be used for a Florida-grown fruits and veggies, and the market will match up to $40.

SNAP provides nutrition benefits to supplement the food budget of families in need so they can purchase healthy food and move towards self-sufficiency.

The Saturday Morning Market takes place in the Al Lang Stadium Parking Lot, which is located at 230 1st Street Southeast.

If you want this tradition to continue, we encourage you to show your support now. When this pandemic is over, we can get back to admiring the chopping artistry of Pineapple Bae, some live music, maybe a magic show and some Cuban coffee in the sunshine together.
