ZooTampa (1101 W Sligh Ave) is one of the most fabulous destinations in the city of Tampa — and it’s so worth the trip from St. Pete. Christmas in the Wild is a Tampa family tradition at this point, but in 2023 ZooTampa is loading the most wonderful time of the year with new spectacular surprises. Christmas in the Wild officially runs for 19 select nights between November 24 and December 30.
Among the biggest additions to the event this year are larger-than-life illuminated animal sculptures. The Zoo’s Ituri Pass pathway will also be lined with interactive lighted Christmas wreaths. Guests can enjoy rock ‘n’ roll versions of Christmas carols as they walk through the gorgeous display.

You will also get to witness the new Holiday House Light Show, and adventure through its Snow Winter Oasis. You read that right: a snowy oasis in Tampa! Feel nostalgic with the entire family as you’re surrounded by 32 snow-flocked Christmas trees and hanging snowflakes.
On all event nights, you can make your evenings even more magical by upgrading your experience with a Holiday African Penguin Encounter or a Holiday Indian Rhino Encounter, each featuring the opportunity to get up close to amazing animals.
Maybe the most whimsical aspect of the park is the Candy Cane Carousel that’s completely decked out with red and white lights.
Explore Ice Caverns and the Forest of Fantasy, shop at the Holiday Marketplace, decorate Cookies with Mrs Claus, and experience Reindeer Games, all at ZooTampa.
General admission tickets are $29.95 and are available in advance at zootampa.org. Event capacity is limited, so we strongly recommend making advance reservations.
