You’ve seen pop-up Christmas bars in St. Pete, and now it’s time for pop-up Christmas theater in the Sunshine City. American Stage announced a one-of-its-kind pop-up show touring around some of the best venues in the city, starting with opening night at Coastal Creative this Thursday, December 15, at 7 pm. The full bar will be open for those ready to get into the holiday spirit, and for a limited time, audiences can use the code “BURG” for $10 tickets to any performance.

‘Wonderful Life’ is an on-stage adaptation of the Christmas classic It’s A Wonderful Life, and this new rendition will star the well-known actor and drag performer Matt McGee who will be playing every role in the show. To make the production even more unique, it will be touring through four different off-site venues in St. Pete, with running dates of December 15-24.

Shows will take the stage at Coastal Creative, The Studio @ 620, The James Museum of Western and Wildlife Art, and Gulfport’s Catherine A. Hickman Theater. Wonderful Life is being billed as a “heartwarming 75-minute one-person retelling of the classic holiday story,” and tickets are on sale for only $10 each with code “BURG” (normally $35 each).

Wonderful Life is an award-winning show

This rendition of It’s A Wonderful Life has been co-adapted by Helen R. Murray and Jason Lott. Shows take place at Coastal Creative on December 15, The Studio @ 620 on December 16, The James Museum on December 16 and 17 (including two matinees), and the Catherine A. Hickman Theater December 22-24.

From American Stage: “George Bailey’s struggle to grasp why life is worth living finds a fresh voice in this imaginative one-person retelling of Frank Capra’s classic film “It’s a Wonderful Life.” Join the residents of Bedford Falls, New York on a fateful Christmas Eve in 1945 when angels, alternate realities and miracles change the way we see our place in the world. Wonderful Life is a heartwarming story about the effect one man’s sacrifices have on the people and town he loves.”

Wonderful Life has also won the Charles MacArthur Award for Outstanding New Play or Musical. Learn more and find tickets at americanstage.org.
