Think of them as the baseball cards of the future. At this Saturday’s game against the Baltimore Orioles at Tropicana Field, every ticket-holding attendee will receive one of three custom Wander Franco NFTs, as well as a voucher for a free ticket to a game in August. Saturday’s game begins at 4:10 pm, and gates open at 3:10.

The innovative giveaway will be delivered to each email address registered with tickets, where new NFT owners can claim their personal token through Candy Digital (the official MLB partner). Each of the three NFTs will feature Franco, the young star for the Rays, but much like a pack of baseball cards, some will be more rare than others, and you never know which one you’ll get.

The three editions they’ve created are a “common” Columbia Blue based NFT, a rarer GOLD based NFT, and very special Devil Rays themed version. Each one is of Franco, but the backgrounds will be different. In addition to the NFT, the Rays are also giving away custom Wander Franco bobbleheads, but unlike the NFT, bobblehead supplies are limited to a first-come, first-served basis. Be sure to arrive early (and grab something to eat and drink while you wait on first pitch).

Once the NFTs are in their possession, owners can keep it for themselves or choose to sell it eBay style on Candy Digital, if they prefer. Plus, every claimed NFT also comes with a free ticket for a Rays home game in August (of the NFT owner’s choosing), adding even more value to the unique giveaway.

“It’s a little bit of old school meets new school,” said Rays Chief Business Officer Bill Walsh. “We have a traditional bobblehead, but we also have the NFT digital collectible, much like a baseball card that many of us collected in our youth.”
