Running a mile in Speedos might have sounded ok a month ago but today it sounds downright crazy. Hopefully the weather will warm up a bit before Saturday’s Santa Speedo Run in neighboring downtown Gulfport.

What began in Boston eleven years ago is now held throughout the US during the month of December as a fundraiser for child related good causes. The Gulfport run will support AIDS Service Association of Pinellas’s (ASAP) Brighter Seasons for Children program, which helps kids affected by HIV/AIDS.
The 1 mile run starts at 4PM this Saturday, December 18th, in Clymer Park in Gulfport and ends at the Recreation Center. Anyone and everyone is welcome to participate. A $20 registration fee is required. Clymer Park is located at the intersection of Beach and Gulfport Boulevards in Gulfport. To register for the run click here.
A friend of the ‘Burg who is running in the Gulfport event is also hosting a FREE screening of Rob William’s Make the Yuletide Gay this Thursday at 8PM at the L-Train Theatre in Downtown St. Pete. Cash donations will be collected for the Santa Speedo Run. The L Train is located at 900 Central Ave. Ste. 25B
Check out this video from the Boston run held last weekend. They make it look real fun and funny!
