Vertical Ventures, our go-to for indoor rock climbing, announced a new series of events this week aimed at supporting individuals with disabilities and helping them enjoy the experience of rock climbing. Starting this month, Vertical Ventures will host an ongoing series of adaptive climbing days tailored for individuals with disabilities from all backgrounds and with varying levels of climbing experience – no experience needed.

The first of these climbing days is being hosted on Sunday, April 30 from 8 am – 12 pm in their facility at 116 18th Street South. Vertical Ventures has already announced two more dates for adaptive climbing Sundays (July 30 and October 29), with more to come.

The event is $25 for anyone to attend (or free for members) and includes two hours of exclusive, private climbing (8am – 10am), followed by two hours of shared space climbing (10am – Noon, with the public).

There will be staff members available to give facility tours, provide gear and assistive/adaptive equipment when needed, handle the ropes for climbers, and provide encouragement and basic instruction. Those interested in belaying and supporting these events are encouraged to attend. The event, Vertical Ventures said, is intended to create a friendly, supportive, and inclusive space for climbers with disabilities to experience indoor rock climbing.
