On April 23, there will be an anniversary party to mark one year since a new beacon of standup comedy emerged in St. Pete Beach, courtesy of the renowned comedian Kenny Garcia.
The Sunshine City Comedy Club (5501 Gulf Blvd) is “a safe place for comedians to perfect their craft,” Garcia explains, emphasizing his commitment to fostering talent and creativity within the local comedy community.

Upon entering, guests are greeted by an intimate speakeasy vibe, with seating for 56 in the comedy room. The atmosphere is electric yet cozy. Adjoining the club is a game room bar, where patrons can enjoy drinks while engaging with the comedians.
Every Friday and Saturday, the club features touring comedians
But The Sunshine City Comedy Club isn’t just about big-name acts; it’s also a platform for local talent to shine. Throughout the rest of the week, the club offers showcases and open mics for up-and-coming comedians throughout Tampa Bay.
This was evident when we visited and were delighted by the likes of Forrest Beers, Austin Wertth, Davis Sutton, and Sass Schaefer for their “Sunshine City All Stars!” showcase, which was personally curated by Kenny Garcia.
