St. Pete Ferments (SPF) recently opened a brick-and-mortar shop at 326 Dr. MLK Jr. St. N., which they share with Queen and Colony. While there’s still work to be done, SPF is aiming for a grand opening on October 17. Currently, the shop is open on Thursdays from 2pm–7pm and Fridays and Saturdays from 11am–4pm.

Before opening the store, SPF products were only available through their website for pick-up orders, the Saturday Morning Market, and Indie Flea. This new space expands retail opportunities for SPF, providing greater availability of fermented goodies for both loyal and new customers. It also offers more chances for public engagement.

St. Pete Ferments and Queen Colony to host workshops and classes

Sarah Arrazola, owner of SPF, tells I Love The Burg that SPF and Queen Colony will host workshops on select Sundays, with potential weekday evening classes in the works. This is exciting news for DIY enthusiasts eager to dive into the finer points of fermentation and explore the wonders of honey.

SPF and Queen Colony are breathing new life into a historic building that dates back to 1930. Once known as The Refuge, a venue for punk rock shows, the building retains its original brick, although it was divided into two spaces in the 2000s, according to Arrazola. “Josh Harris [owner of Queen Colony] and I are both St. Pete natives,” says Arrazola. “Fortunately, the landlord is also a St. Pete native, which makes being in that space really special.”
