Tampa Bay’s only for-all animal shelter is asking for the community’s help to treat and take care of animals in need. SPCA Tampa Bay is hosting its 3rd -Annual Day of Giving Telethon, presented by Hill’s Pet Nutrition and CenterGrid. This year’s telethon and online fundraising event will take place all day on Thursday, November 10.
As part of the event, SPCA Tampa Bay’s sponsors are matching every donation that comes in for the Day Of Giving, as the organization works towards its annual fundraising goal of $120,000. To make a gift, all are encouraged to either call 844-SPCA-PAW, text “PAW” to 243-725, or donate online at spcatampabay.org/day-of-giving/.

Every year more than 7,000 wildlife and pets are surrendered to the for-all shelter, and SPCA Tampa Bay then takes responsibility for the medical care and welfare of these animals, helping them return to their natural habitat or find their forever home.
Many of the animals up for adoption find their home as soon as they are treated and taken to the adoption center, but many more have an extended stay of weeks or months. On average it cost $25 a day for SPCA Tampa Bay to care for an animal, which includes food, shelter and medicine, as well as mentally-stimulating enrichment activities.
By donating on Day of Giving (or any other day) locals can help further the mission of the care for animals. Even the smallest amount can make the biggest difference for an animal in need. As SPCA Tampa Bay has outlined, donations truly make a difference, and they add up quickly.
- A $5 donation will feed one shelter animal for a day.
- A $25 donation will provide an animal’s food, shelter and medicine for one day.
- A $50 donation helps SPCA to assist sick or injured wildlife in our community.
- A $100 donation assists a shelter animal to be spayed/neutered and microchipped.
