Sauvignon offers one of St. Pete’s best scratch-made brunches

One of downtown’s best spots for fine food and drink has changed the game on Sundays in DTSP. Sauvignon Wine Locker and Trattoria has officially added Sunday brunch to its list of weekly offerings, and it has quickly become one of our favorites in the Burg. Rich and decadent dishes, sweet and savory alike, fill this delectable menu of goodness.

The brunch menu is available from 10:30 am – 3 pm every Sunday and includes a tremendous selection of freshly-prepared eats. In addition to their beloved build-your-own charcuterie boards, Sauvignon has put together a wide range of appetizers, salads, handmade pasta dishes, main entrees and divine desserts. And the best part: all bottles of wine under $100 are 50% off all day every Sunday, so you can pair your meal with that fancy bottle you’ve been eyeing.

Highlights among the starters include a wonderfully rich goat cheese tart, a loaded avocado toast, deviled eggs with weekly rotating recipes, an amazing oxtail hash, delicious and traditional potato pancakes served with house apple sauce and sour cream, and a pecan and plantain sticky bun that tastes like grandma made it.

On our visit we also sampled an incredible frisee, prosciutto and gruyere salad, and nearly dove headfirst into the wonderfully rich, creamy and satisfying white miso and mushroom pasta (it truly may have been our favorite of them all). The main attraction for traditional brunch fare is the piping hot bananas foster French toast topped with peanut butter gelato, a creation straight from the dreams of Elvis himself.

The star of the show for those who truly want to indulge is the Brasstown Farms 16-oz bone-in 45-day dry-aged ribeye and eggs. Cooked to perfection, the ribeye is topped with two eggs,
blanketed in burrenaise, and served with two potato pancakes.

For dessert, choose between black pepper buttermilk panna cotta, chocolate budino, house made gelato, or a fresh baked apple tart tatin.
