Some of St. Pete’s best BBQ is back after a nearly year-long hiatus. Red’s BBQ Food Truck announced yesterday that it is opening back up beginning this weekend at 3405 34th Street North.

For years, Red’s was a staple throughout Tampa Bay, and especially in St. Pete, as the truck roved around town dishing up some of the smoked meats and filling sides on the Gulf Coast. The truck took a reprieve when the two brothers who run it opened their first brick and mortar, Roam Steakhouse, in the spring of 2022, which has been greeted with rave reviews.

It’s no surprise that brothers Christian and Joshua Jackson did so well with their restaurant, but we’re certainly excited to see Red’s return, and to do so right outside in the parking lot at Roam. Red’s will be open from 11 am – 6 pm this Friday and Saturday, January 13 and 14. The brothers had planned to open up Thursday, as well, but repairs to the truck set them back a day.

For the uninitiated, Red’s is straightforward, fantastic BBQ that’s worth savoring. We’ll see if the Jacksons keep the same menu, but previously they were beloved for their slow-smoked pulled pork, St. Louis-style ribs, candied fried chicken, smoked lamb chops, and buffalo chicken. Their stick-to-your-stomach sides are can’t-miss, as well, dishing up potato salad, dirty rice, baked beans, and fries, among other sides and rotating entree specials.

For now, Red’s will be open weekly from Thursday-Saturday, 11 am – 6 pm. If you’re looking for a double feature from the Jacksons, Roam is open nightly for dinner, and also does a fantastic Sunday brunch. Follow Red’s on facebook for more updates.
