You can catch this legendary hard-core punk group at the State on New Year’s Eve– A don’t miss according to contributor Tai Swank. The band which formed in California back in 1978 features music mixing the more experimental elements of British 1970s punk with the raw energy of the 1980s American hardcore punk scene. Dead Kennedys’ songs mix deliberately shocking lyrics with satirical and sarcastic criticism of social and political issues.The group played strong until disbanding in 1986. They reformed in 2001 without lead singer Jello Biafra.

Saturday, January 8th Red Jumpsuit Apparatus @ The State Theatre
This Florida rock band has been around for nearly a decade. Their first album Don’t You Fake It went gold in 2006. Songs from that album have been featured on Madden NFL ’07 and the movies Georgia Rule and Never Back Down. They are presently in the studio recording their 3rd full-length album.
This band which formed in the 1990’s made it big with their first album Fashion Nugget, which spawned several singles, with "The Distance" being its highest-charting single. Cake’s musical style is characterized by lead singer John McCrea’s half-sung, half-spoken vocals and lyrical wordplay.
