The Bayou Market and Cafe has long teased its official opening. Leading up to the announcement, owner David Bilyeu, a Baton Rouge native with a passion for cooking, had been offering up free samples at the Central Avenue location. Wait no more St. Pete, the Bayou Market and Cafe will officially opens on Monday, September 23, the first day of fall.

Bilyeu comes with more than 10 years of experience in the catering world. It’s natural transition for Bayou Catering to become a full blown restaurant all its own. Trust us, we appreciate the debut.

The restaurant pays homage to the Cajun and Creole markets of Baton Rouge, according to a release from Bayou Market and Cafe VP Holly Sizemore. It’s not just a place to sit and eat. Bayou Market and Cafe features a bountiful take and bake section in case you want to enjoy the Baton Rouge-based delights all week.

Market appetizers include big stuffed mushrooms, crab cakes, smoked fish spread and bacon-wrapped BBQ shrimp. Advertised entrees include seafood voodoo pasta, crawfish pie, shrimp creole, and bourbon chicken kabobs.

Don’t fret ff you’re a fan of Bayou Catering, that service isn’t going anywhere. The cafe simply serves as a new permanent joint for more Tampa Bay residents to experience what Cajun and Creole food is all about.
