In a project that’s been in the works for more than two years, hometown favorite Kahwa Coffee is opening a first-of-its-kind café in St. Pete. This new café will not only feature a drive-thru, but it will be constructed entirely from repurposed shipping containers.
The concept is unlike anything in Tampa Bay currently, and Kahwa says it hopes to be open by Christmas at 6623 4th Street North. The full array of Kahwa’s award-winning coffee and other drinks will be available, as well as the full menu of baked goods, sandwiches, and snacks.

The full structure will be comprised of three interconnecting containers. And to make things sweeter, it isn’t just drive-thru coffee. There will be a walk-up counter and outdoor seating as well, bringing an excellent cafe option to the neighborhood.
Of course, while this is the first shipping container café for the local coffee roasters, it isn’t the first Kahwa drive-thru to hit St. Pete. In fact, it isn’t even the first this year, as the company just opened a new drive-thru location on Park Street back in March. With this announcement, the beloved coffee will be available all over the city.
Kahwa launches new order-ahead app with free breakfast sandwiches
More good news: you can now get your favorite local coffee as easily as a quick twitch of the thumbs. Plus, you’ll get rewarded for doing it. Kahwa Coffee launched a new mobile app this summer, making it possible to order ahead for easy pick-up at your favorite Kahwa location.

And to make it even sweeter (or more bitter, if that’s how you prefer your morning brew), the new app has a stellar rewards program that gives free coffee and other goodies to the caffeine junkies who need it the most. Oh, and Kahwa is giving a free breakfast sandwich to everyone just for signing up.
Available on iOS and android, the app is simple to use, as users just scroll through and pick out what they want, from a house blend with half and half to croissants, cappuccinos, and the tasty new Kahwa Fizz (their take on an Italian soda).
The app also tracks reward points, helping frequent visitors earn things like free drinks, complimentary birthday coffee, free refills, and even Kahwa merchandise. In addition to the free breakfast sandwich upon signup, all app users will earn a minimum of 10 points for every $1 spent, with that number increasing as the rewards status grows.
