Julio’s Latin Twist is one of my favorite new restaurants to hit the Tampa Bay area. They’re currently operating out of a bright yellow food truck in the lot outside their future Gulfport location on weekends. Julio Pagan, the Empanada King behind the concept, has revealed plans for another brick-and-mortar restaurant in the Tyrone area of St. Pete at 7815 38th Avenue North. This brick-and-mortar officially soft opens on Tuesday, July 11, with an opening party planned for that Friday, July 14.
I’ve had the pleasure of enjoying both the chicken and beef empanadas, and the ultra savory coco rico bowl. The menu at the Tyrone location will also include mofongo (my personal favorite dish in this world) so I’m ecstatic for this sit down concept to debut. Pagan also crafts one of the finest Devil Crab dishes you’re bound to try in the St. Pete area.

Julio’s Latin Twist makes its Tyrone debut on July 11, but the food truck will still post up in Gulfport ahead of that location’s official opening. The best way to keep up with all the restaurant news is by following Julio’s on Instagram.
Other menu essentials will include the devil crab along with a huge list of empanadas with fillings such as garlic shrimp, eggplant and zucchini, flat iron steak, loaded meatball, and pulled pork cuban.
