One of St. Pete’s best family-friendly events is taking over The James Museum of Western and Wildlife Art this week. “Menagerie At The Museum: Animals, Art, Adventure” invites families and children of all ages for a day full of live animals, incredible art, face painting and more on Saturday, August 19 from 11 am – 3 pm.
Tickets for Menagerie At The Museum are only $5, and they include access to the entire museum, an incredible deal for the two-in-one adventure. This family-friendly indoor event features real owls, hawks, kestrels, eagles, snakes, alligators, lemurs, skunks, miniature horses and more. Plus, young ones can enjoy face painting, balloon twisting and other kid-approved activities.
And because tickets include access to the entire museum, families can check out The James Museum’s latest wildlife exhibition, Un/Natural Selections. Organized by the National Museum of Wildlife Art, this exhibition considers the diverse ways contemporary artists use animal imagery to address humanity’s interconnectedness with the natural world.
To bring Menagerie At The Museum to life, The James Museum worked with a long list of local favorites to create an incredible, diverse and immersive experience. Partners include the Alligator & Wildlife Discovery Center, Clearwater Marine Aquarium, Florida Skunk Rescue, Friends of Boyd Hill, Honey’s Mini Therapy Adventures, Humane Society of Pinellas, Seaside Seabird Sanctuary, SPCA Tampa Bay, and SPPD Mounted Unit.
To help kids get excited for the event, The James Museum has even created a downloadable coloring sheet ahead of all the fun. Note that no ticket is required for James Museum members to join the excitement – just present your membership card upon arrival.
