Giddyup, y’all! One of downtown St. Pete’s most stunning museums is inviting guests in for a night of dancing, art, food, cocktails, casino games, and celebrating in Old West fashion.

The James Museum of Western and Wildlife Art is hosting ‘Jamboree at The James,’ its annual anniversary soiree, this year celebrating six years since the iconic museum opened. Festivities take place on Saturday, April 13 from 6-10:30 pm inside the ballroom at The James, located at 150 Central Avenue. The deadline to order tickets is Monday, April 8.

The Jamboree is a night of country western-themed fun, taking place alongside one of the country’s most impressive collections of Western U.S. artwork and artifacts. Themed attire is encouraged, and the gala will include an always-entertaining line dancing experience, as well as swing dancing and a superb auction. Guests will enjoy a curated Southwestern dinner menu, along with casino games for revelers to enjoy. Highlights from the auction include a North Carolina vacation and an original Floyd Sholz statue.

Jamboree at The James also functions as the year’s largest fundraiser for the cultural arts hub, and it will include an opening cocktail reception, followed by a special presentation on behalf of the museum. While the dancing and cocktails may be the main draw, half the fun is the opportunity to explore the museum’s incredible galleries after dark. Having an evening in the museum to yourself (as well as your fellow wranglers) makes for an experience unlike any other at The James.

General Admission tickets start at $200, though several additional packages are available. Some sponsorship opportunities still remain, as well as VIP and full-table reservation options. The deadline to order tickets is Monday, April 8.

Proceeds from the evening will support The James Museum’s accessibility programs, including Art in Mind (tours for those with Alzheimer’s and dementia and their caregivers at no expense to them) and Art for All, which provides free museum admission and educational programs to increase accessibility to high-quality museum learning resources for those receiving food assistance. “Grab your boots and hit the dance floor as we celebrate The James Museum’s sixth anniversary with an evening of country Western fun,” The James says. See more details at jamesmuseum.org.

If you haven’t visited The James Museum before (or if you’ve only been for one of their many great events), it’s more than worth the price of admission. Even for those who have been many times, it’s always worth another visit with its rotating exhibits and galleries.

The James Museum of Western & Wildlife Art provides experiences that inspire human connection and transformation through art depicting the peoples, landscapes, and history of the American West, and wildlife of the world. More than 400 premiere works of art including sculpture, paintings and jewelry are on display in the museum’s 26,000 square feet of gallery space.

The museum engages the community through programs and educational opportunities, for all ages, that bring our history to life and amplify voices that are not often at the forefront of mainstream Western art. When The James Museum opened in April 2018 it became one of the newest additions to St. Petersburg’s thriving arts community, and these six years later, it remains one of the city’s must-visit cultural destinations.
