With predictions for an active Hurricane Season, it’s important to be ready in advance.
St. Pete residents may pick up a maximum of 10 sandbags per household. Staff will be on hand to assist seniors and others who may be unable to fill and load their own sandbags. Residents must provide proof of residence (such as a driver’s license) to receive sandbags.
Sandbags are available to city residents throughout the year during non-emergency times at the following location. This location will close during a declared emergency.
- Pavement and Traffic Operations Building, 1744 9th Ave. N. (Monday-Friday, 7 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.)
We highly recommend becoming familiar with your flood zone, if you aren’t already. The City of St. Pete’s hurricane resource center is an excellent tool that will show you your zone, provide information on how to report issues, share locations for shelters if needed, and offer lots of other helpful tips to make sure you’re prepared by the time the storm arrives. Following a declaration of a tropical storm or hurricane warning, sandbags will be issued at the following locations. These locations may open earlier depending on direction and/or tidal conditions. These locations are not open year-round.
