The Galaxy Hotel, located at 101 3rd Ave. N. in downtown St. Pete, has soft-opened with plans for an official grand opening later this November or December. The hotel’s guest rooms are modern and vibrant, featuring minimalist decor and clean lines. On the first floor, Grain Restaurant and Bar will offer fresh, modern Italian cuisine, while the rooftop bar promises some of the best bayside views in the city.
Galaxy Hotel provides shelter after Hurricane Milton
After Hurricane Milton struck Florida on October 9, the hotel received an emergency Temporary Certificate of Occupancy (TCO), allowing it to provide shelter for families and workers displaced by the storm. While the Galaxy Hotel’s opening wasn’t what management had originally envisioned, they have found purpose in offering a critical service to the community.

“We have housed line workers, families, and city employees who needed a safe place to stay,” said the VP of Operations for Benson Hospitality Group. “Many people have expressed their gratitude, and it’s been comforting to know we can provide that for them.”
During this soft-opening phase, the restaurant and rooftop bar remain closed. However, guests can enjoy the nearby dining, bars, museums, and parks—all within walking distance of the hotel.
Construction on the Galaxy Hotel began in 2018, although the project was approved by the city more than 15 years ago. Savni Bakrac, who also owns the Ponce de Leon, owns the hotel, while the Benson Hospitality Group—famous for local favorites like Fortu, Black Cattle Burger, and Top Slice Pizzeria—will manage its food and beverage services.
