For many of us, living in paradise can sometimes be taken for granted. It’s easy enough to enjoy the beautiful fall weather without trying, but sometimes life gets busy and you realize that the list of things you want to do is only getting longer. One of those items for me has always been making time to visit more of the natural springs that our area and state are so lucky to have.

Launched in 2022, the Florida Springs Passport is a tool to make it easy for locals (or visitors!) to get out and explore the many beautiful springs nearby, all while supporting non-profits who work to protect them. The handheld “passport” is an interactive adventure guide that showcases 20 Florida springs, providing lists of activities you can enjoy at each one, animals to be on the lookout for, and discounts on passes to half a dozen of the best springs.

The Florida Springs Passport sells for $14.99 (get 15% off with code LOVEBURG), and comes with more than $30 worth of vouchers to various ecotour companies. And each purchase also helps support necessary nonprofits who preserve the waters and wildlife, as well as battle corporations trying to control the springs, such as the Florida Springs Council, the Save The Manatee Club, Current Problems, and the Florida Springs Institute.

For each of the 20 springs, the passport includes a large color picture to give you an idea of what to expect visually, along with a brief description of the spring, a section to take notes about the experience when you visit, and a list of things to do once you’re there (or when you go back, if you didn’t get to all of them).

As we know, one of the best things about Florida’s natural springs are that they stay in the same temperature range year-round, making them enjoyable and accessible for just about the entire calendar. With Christmas around the corner, you could certainly do worse than the gift of time spent in nature.

A natural spring

And perhaps the best part about the Florida Springs Passport is the ability to get easy, accessible information and guidance on the springs we *haven’t* been to or heard of. After all, everyone knows Weekie Wachie and Rainbow River. This passport helps you get off the beaten path and discover the hidden wonders Florida has to offer.

The Florida Springs Passport was developed by Danielle Mosichuk, a lifelong Tampa Bay resident and current St. Pete local who was paddling through a spring two years ago and reflecting on how many people who live in the area didn’t realize just how many springs there are to visit nearby. In fact, after the success of this first 20-spring passport, she plans for a volume two that will highlight another 20. There is certainly no shortage of springs to be found.
